π How to build The Walls of Ba Sing Se
The Walls of Ba Sing Se is an 8-mana defensive anchor. It can't attack, but every other permanent you control gains indestructible, so creatures, artifacts, enchantments, and lands you control can't be destroyed by destroy effects or by taking lethal damage. The game plan is to stabilize a board and then pressure your opponents with the other permanents you control while the Wall holds the ground at home.
Build around it with permanents that benefit from being hard to destroy, such as creatures you want to attack and block repeatedly, and artifacts or enchantments you want to keep on the battlefield long term. Cards that put more permanents into play, or that reward having a durable board, fit this plan well. Because the Wall never attacks, your offense has to come from its protected teammates.
Watch the limits of the indestructible effect. It applies only to "other" permanents, so the Wall itself can be destroyed. Indestructible also doesn't stop exile, sacrifice, bounce, or a permanent's toughness being reduced to 0. The high mana cost means you'll often be committing a lot of mana to a card that does nothing offensively.
