Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist

📖 How to build Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist

Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist is a three-mana first strike Cat Warrior built to win combat. Whenever she attacks, each opponent can't block with more than one creature that combat, which helps your attacks get through crowded boards. Because she is tapped after attacking, no more than one creature can attack you each combat, so the plan is to keep attacking with Mirri while the opposing board is limited in both directions.

Build around getting Mirri out early and keeping her on the battlefield. Ramp helps here, so consider Cultivate, Farseek, Nature's Lore, Rampant Growth, Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Kodama's Reach, and Three Visits. Removal such as Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, and Beast Within can clear blockers or answer threats. Heroic Intervention is another card to explore for protecting your key creature.

Watch out for the fact that Mirri has no evasion of her own, and her defensive restriction only applies while she is tapped, so holding her back as a blocker removes that benefit. As a single legendary creature, she can be answered by the same removal spells you might use, including Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile. Build a board that doesn't rely on her alone.
