πŸ“– How to build Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant

Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant is a seven-mana blue Phyrexian Praetor that rewards a controlling, spell-heavy game plan. Once each turn, the first artifact, instant, or sorcery you cast is copied, and you may choose new targets for the copy. Once each turn, the first artifact, instant, or sorcery an opponent casts is countered. The goal is to cast one cheap spell each turn for two effects while stopping one of your opponent's key spells.

Build around inexpensive artifacts, instants, and sorceries so you can cast a copy-worthy spell most turns. Brainstorm and Frantic Search are cheap options that fit this plan. Counterspell, Negate, Arcane Denial, and Fierce Guardianship support the counter-based side. Cyclonic Rift and An Offer You Can't Refuse are strong spells to copy. Rhystic Study, Propaganda, and Mystic Remora are non-spell permanents that give steady value, though the commander's triggers do not affect them.

The main weakness is cost: seven mana is a lot, and the commander is a creature that can be removed. Each trigger works only once per turn, so you get one copy and one counter per turn, and opponents can still cast additional spells after your first counter. Creature and enchantment spells get no benefit from the copy trigger, so your deck needs enough qualifying spells to keep it active.
