π How to build Anzrag, the Quake-Mole
Anzrag, the Quake-Mole is a Gruul creature built around being blocked. Whenever it becomes blocked, each creature you control untaps, so your board can attack or block again. Its rules text also adds an additional combat phase after the current one, letting your creatures fight twice in one turn. Its seven-mana activated ability forces it to be blocked each combat this turn if able, which can set up that untap trigger on demand.
Build around ramp to reach the seven-mana cost quickly. Cultivate, Farseek, Rampant Growth, Nature's Lore, Kodama's Reach, and Three Visits can all help, and Birds of Paradise and Llanowar Elves add early mana. Heroic Intervention can protect your creatures during combat, while Chaos Warp and Blasphemous Act can remove permanents that might stop your attack, and Beast Within can deal with a problem blocker or threat.
The main weakness is that the plan depends on opponents blocking Anzrag, and the forced-block ability only works if they are able to block. Anzrag is a single creature, so removal ends the plan quickly. The seven-mana activation is expensive, and the extra combat only helps if your creatures survive the first one. Watch the opposing board before committing.
